The content of our training courses is always tailored to a client’s realities – these courses have been tailored for the automotive industry, specifically including environments with electric vehicles, where relevant. For each site and business a specific risk assessment is carried out enabling training scenarios to fit the hazards and risks faced by your team. Wherever possible, training is carried out at the client's location or where a simulated emergency situation can be set up.
All of our training is delivered using a hands-on skills-based approach. Participants start by learning the required skills, and by the end of the course they will be utilising those skills in scenario-based training that will simulate real situations they could face at work.
We do not believe in written examinations. All assessment is carried out through the students' practical demonstration of the skills learned.
Our courses are accredited by the highly respected ATACC group and use the B.U.R.P.S algorithm, developed by leading pre-hospital doctors and clinicians. B.U.R.P.S is a simple and intuitive methodology which allows for immediate assessment, with a simple and quick means to identify serious problems - it also avoids missing injuries or signs key to empowering first aiders to save lives. It has already been adopted widely by the emergency services and in industry.

What’s your Everest? Building resilience and managing mental health
Climbing Everest is often used as a euphemism for facing the biggest challenge or obstacle, either personally or professionally.
As well as an insight into the trials and tribulations inherent in climbing the world’s highest mountain, delegates on this session will receive a tool-kit of practical skills which they will be able to use in order to overcome their own Everest, building resilience and positive mental health strategies.
If you operate electric vehicles as part of your fleet, Sandstone can integrate the electric vehicle module into your first aid at work training. The module covers specific first aid considerations that arise from the use of electric vehicles and high power charging points. There is a focus on internal burns and the use of defibrillators. As a part of the module the team will also discuss specific first aid risk assessments and equipment that should be considered in an electric vehicle environment.
This module is the only one of its kind. It has been approved by the ATACC group.
Purchasing ‘off the shelf’ first aid kits not only means that you are probably not compliant with the HSE requirements, it also means that in case of a serious accident you are most likely not appropriately prepared.
If your risk assessment identifies that there exists a risk of major injury such as bad cuts or trauma (machinery, vehicles, warehousing) your first aid kit should always contain basic trauma equipment such as a tourniquet or cellox (a barrier against ongoing haemorrhage), so that your designated first responders can act effectively.
We will work with you to develop the various First Aid kits that each organisation or location requires and will advise and assist in procurement.
NOTE: Your SOPs must ensure that these kits are located so as to be immediately available in case of an accident.
This kit contains the essential items you will require to control a major life-threatening bleed until the arrival of the emergency services. It has been designed around the bleed control element of our FTACC-E and FTACC courses utilising the BURPS system.
